This pathway engages with the renewed interest and status of the craft object and small batch production and its role in design. The role of designer-maker is undergoing an evaluation, away from a marginal activity to one which engages with other disciplines, fine art and design. The value of the one off or short run production product has brought to the attention of a broad audience of both makers, collectors and industry. This pathway offers the opportunity to critically engage with this debate, through both practice and theory. The course welcomes applicants from both Fine Art and Design backgrounds including, architecture, craft production, makers involved with one-off or small batch production, ceramicists, prototype designers, jewellery designers and metal workers.

This pathway builds on the success of the BA (Hons) 3D Design course and on the strong tradition of craft & design within Camberwell.
